Graphing Calculator Workshops

The MSLC offers tutor led graphing calculator workshops throughout each quarter (except summer quarter). The workshops get progressively more advanced during the quarter. You can visit our Upcoming Events page to see the workshops scheduled during the current quarter. The following pages are in PDF format, if you're unable to view and/or print out a copy of the workshop notes, you may need to download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Graphing Calculator Workshop Part 1:

We will go over the basics of using the TI-83, from turning it on and off, all the way through graphing polynomials, including finding good windows, roots, maximums/minimums, and intersections. (Great for people who have had limited exposure to graphing calculators; course content is geared for 104/148/150 students)
Part 1: Workshop Notes

Graphing Calculator Workshop Part 2:

We'll talk about exponentials and logarithms, from calculating to graphing. Example word problems will apply your math and graphing skills towards finding a good window and interpreting these kinds of functions. We will wrap up with evaluating and graphing basic trigonometric functions. (This is a math-oriented session (focus on 148/150); features helpful for 130)
Part 2: Workshop Notes

Graphing Calculator Workshop Part 3:

We're going to get more in-depth with trigonometric graphs. Then we'll move on to polar coordinates, graphing polar graphs, and finally, complex numbers. Your calculator can quickly and easily do these conversions, and it's a great tool for checking answers! (Content applicable only for 150 and 153 students)
